One of my favorite things about astrology is that everything moves in a big circle. We start our astrological year with fire and then once we start to get sick of go-go-go, Taurus brings grounding earth energy, and then soon enough we’re bored and Gemini comes along with all kinds of flutter and excitement, and then by the time you’re on your 25th day of being frenetic, it’s time for Cancer to bring some soothing waters.
All that to say, I am looking forward to Cancer season, which begins next week, on Friday, June 20th. A few days later, on Wednesday, June 25th, we have our new moon in Cancer, which is a nice little mid-point to the calendar year. A mini-new year, let’s say!
Oftentimes I write horoscopes for the season…due to laziness, I am not going to do that today, but I actually think my laziness in this regard brings an important message.
Very often—in fact, most of the time—people associate themselves with their sun sign. They either associate themselves as “so” their sun sign or “so not” their sun sign.
(HOW MANY LIBRAS HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY DO NOT RESONATE WITH BEING A LIBRA. MORE THAN TWO OF YOU, THAT’S FOR SURE.)
What I always say is that there is so much more to a person’s chart than their sun sign. There is literally every sign in a person’s chart, which means that each sign effects their lives in some form or fashion.
When I write horoscopes, I actually write them as a story, intended to be read in their entirety, by everyone/every sign, starting with Aries and ending with Pisces. I bet most people don’t do that! People probably jump right to their sun sign, maybe their moon and rising, maybe their husband’s sign, and then they move on. If I’m wrong on that, let me know! (I do it too, no judgment!)
When we disregard all the other signs in favor of just the one (or two), we skip out on all the learning to be done about ourselves and how that particular sign shows up in our lives. Problem is, if you don’t know where a sign sits in your chart, then it can be hard to really resonate with it in horoscope form. More on that in a moment.
I am going to share a little bit about Cancer and I want every sign to read it with the knowledge that YOU ARE A CANCER TOO. Maybe you don’t know quite where Cancer sits in your chart (again, more on that soon), but just know that you are a Cancer, even if you’re NOT A CANCER.
cancer season: a horoscope for all!
“Sensitive,” you might have heard Cancers called. Sure. Fine. In this day and age, aren’t we all sensitive?!
Cancer is sneaky-strong. It is more of a feeling/emotions-based sign, which results in it being very aware of not only its own emotions, but also the emotions of those around them.
It represents home and family, safety and security, so depending on your childhood, that might have manifested itself as learning to do a temperature check on the vibe, i.e., ARE WE ALL GOOD HERE?, i.e., reading the room.
Reading the room to ensure their own safety and maybe even the safety of others. That is a tall order and hence why I say that Cancer is sneaky-strong. Always aware, always testing out the waters, always ready to nurture those around them as the situation needs.
Cancer rules childbirth and motherhood, but you don’t have to birth a child or be a parent to have this resonate. The word I always think of when I think of Cancer is: Foundation.
Cancer sets a strong foundation. It makes sure the conditions are ideal before starting to build. Cancer is a cardinal sign, so it is ready to take action.
Particularly after the new moon in Cancer on June 25—our mini-new year—this action-taking energy will be potent.
Enjoy Cancer season, all my Cancers and non-Cancers alike!
more on that in a moment…
